First there was Landon, and then there was Landen (because why not). Essentially the same name with the same meaning, Landon/Landen was taken from a place name that had been an English surname. “Lang” means “long” and “dun” means “hill.” American parents apparently threw English etiquette to the wind and started the whole Landon/Landen-as-a-first-name trend, which landed it on the baby-name charts in the late 1990s.
