Ossian

Ossian is a masculine name meaning “fawn.” Based on the Gaelic moniker Oisin, Ossian was a legendary bard in Irish mythology who authored several epic poems on a group of warriors, the Fianna Éireann, and their leader Finn MacCumhail. The poet’s name likely became known all over Europe around 1762 when Scottish poet James Macpherson claimed to have compiled and published all of Ossian’s works.
