Taoimah
ta(oi)-mah
Origin:Native American
Meaning:Of Tewameha
While Taoimah's true origin is a mystery to unravel, it's most likely a respelling of the Algonquian moniker Taimah. This masculine Native American name is a diminutive of Tewameha, and unfortunately, its true meaning has been lost to time. Not lost, however, is the legacy of Chief Taimah, whose name is said to translate to "man who makes the rocks tremble," and his tribe was known as the Thunder Clan. Chief Taimah, aka Chief Tama, is remembered for how he protected his people and his role in the 1824 treaty in Washington, DC. Choosing a name like Taoimah honors this historical figure and baby's rich heritage in a unique and meaningful way.
