Waneta

Waneta is a feminine name with a story infused with mystery. While several US towns and landmarks bear this moniker, its Native American beginnings are a little more challenging to trace. The chief of the Yanktonai, a tribe of the Dakota, was known as Wánataŋ, and this could be where Waneta comes from. Wánataŋ's name was said to translate to "one who charges," "charger," or "rushing man," though it's unknown if Waneta shares any of these definitions. Perhaps Waneta is an Anglicized form of the Spanish Juanita, with the faithful meaning of “God is gracious.” No matter which origin calls to you, Waneta’s enigmatic roots make it all the more appealing as a stand-out title.
