Baby Goes Viral Thanks to His Unique Name
Google is the answer to all of our problems. One Indonesian family took their love for the search engine one step further by using it as their son’s namesake, Mirror reports. The parents hope their child will end up being just as “useful” as the popular online tool.
Baby Google was born in November 2018, but the news of his unique name has only just started to gain worldwide attention. His father, Andi Cahya Saputra, tells Mirror he came up with the idea to name his child after something technology-related when his wife, Ella Karin, was seven months pregnant. The boy is the only member of the family with a technology-inspired name, as his older sister has a traditional Indonesian name, Today Online reports.
Before landing on Google, they were also considering Windows, iPhone, Microsoft and iOS as top contenders. The pair also decided not to give their child a surname, because they didn’t want to take away from the “essence” of the name. While Karin says it took her about three months to warm up to it, the namesake has since grown on her and she hopes her son will grow up to be a leader.
Parents have come up with all kinds of original monikers. One mom received flak from family and friends when she decided to name her son Squire Sebastion Senator. Plus, another pop-culture obsessed pair came up with the ultimate baby name to fuel their fandom—Bellatrix Daenerys Leia. The name incorporates characters from their favorite series and films, specifically Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Star Wars.
Coming up with a baby name is both fun and frustrating. Some companies have even capitalized on this common parenting point by offering apps and tools to assist in the baby-naming process. One company in particular, Future Perfect, touts itself as a baby name consulting service, and lets parents pay a minimum of $100 to buy one-of-a-kind baby names created specifically for them.
