Today would have been Steve Irwin’s 60th birthday. To honor his legacy, his daughter Bindi Irwin is spending the day teaching her daughter Grace about her grandfather.

Irwin, 23, paid tribute to her dad on social media, posting a childhood photo of the pair and writing in the caption, “Happy Birthday to the greatest dad and Wildlife Warrior. Today I’ll watch ‘The Crocodile Hunter’ with Grace Warrior and share stories about her incredible Grandpa Crocodile. I love you with all my heart. Your legacy lives on.” She also posted several more sweet photos of her dad serving as a Wildlife Warrior with his family to her Instagram Stories.

Last month, in January 2022, Irwin unveiled a new tattoo honoring both her dad and her daughter. The tattoo is of a crocodile outline alongside the words “graceful warrior.” Steve Irwin tragically died in 2006 at 44 years old, after being stung by a stingray.

Irwin’s brother Robert, 18, also paid tribute to his dad on social media. “Happy birthday Dad. I love you and I miss you more every single day,” he wrote. “My earliest memories are my fondest, thanks to you. Hanging on tight to the handlebars of the motorbike, when you’d take Bindi and I on your morning lap of the zoo - before going to get ice cream for breakfast. Every minute spent with you was a blessing. I’m gonna ride that lap on your old motorbike this afternoon.”

Irwin commented on the post, sharing, “Love you. So proud of you. Dad is always with us.”
