YouTube personality Colleen Ballinger recently welcomed her sweet baby boy into her life. In just over a month since she’s become a mom, she’s learned what motherhood is really like. Spoiler alert: it’s complete chaos.

“I see a lot of moms online who portray a perfect, easy lifestyle…but this is a more realistic version of what motherhood looks like,” she says, sharing a photo pointing out all of the tell-tale signs of a mom.

The next time you scroll past a picture-perfect mommy, just remember earlier this morning, she probably had the same baby barf and pee on her clothes, pile of dirty dishes stacked up and was rocking zero makeup. And under that adorable OOD, she may have some extra baby weight lingering. Even if she doesn’t, there may be other postpartum issues she’s going through that you’d never see in a picture.

“I wish more people would show their reality, instead of the most perfect version of themselves online,” the YouTuber says. “Because the messy stuff is beautiful too.”

Retweeted more than 130,000 times, Ballinger’s words have helped other moms feel heard. Many have been inspired to share their beautiful mess that is motherhood.
