Every Parent Should Read This Warning on First Aid Training
Kids love to put everything they shouldn’t into their mouths. Your car keys, iPhone, remote control—you name it and your youngster has done it. And no matter how much you baby proof your house, sometimes your curious little one manages to get their hands on something they shouldn’t.
Scottish MP Alex Cole-Hamilton found himself in this scary scenario when his 4-year-old daughter, Darcy, swallowed a coin and stopped breathing. Acting in the moment, the dad was able to use what he learned from a first aid course nearly 25 years ago to resuscitate his daughter. Had he never received the training, the moment could have ended tragically.
Once the little girl was breathing again, he dialed 999 so she could be taken to the hospital to have the coin removed.
After the incident, the dad learned most of his friends have never received any training. As a result, he’s pledging to partner with charities and first aid groups to raise awareness on the importance of knowing basic first aid techniques.
“Darcy’s safe and happy tonight, bothering her brothers and eating like a horse, and I am counting blessings,” he says on Twitter.
