Actress Jana Kramer Slams Body Shamers Who Criticized Her Postpartum Body
Actress and country music singer Jana Kramer has just about had it from the peanut gallery of body shamers. The mom gave birth to her second child, Jace Joseph, more than a week ago, and like many women, she’s adjusting to the change in her own way. But after she posted a photo wearing fitted clothing, the celebrity was instantly bombarded with negative comments. Wanting none of that, she took to Instagram to share some important words of wisdom.
“A few things, because honestly I’m so frustrated and I need to vent this,” she starts her post. “I wanted to post this photo—showing my stomach—because I wanted to show my journey back to healthy, and my goodness, I’m so glad I didn’t, which is why this photo is cropped. It’s amazing the comments and how rude some people can be from my last photo I took yesterday.
Kramer has some things she wants to explain to all those who are passing judgment based off of a picture.
“A few things—no I didn’t get a tummy tuck, no I don’t have a personal chef, no I don’t have fortunes so I didn’t train every day,” she says. “Yes, I had a c-section. Yes, I am still in pain and on meds, but I do have a high pain tolerance. I have had three stomach surgeries before this—appendix, gallbladder and a c-section.”
The mom of two raises an interesting point. Regardless of the photo she posted, she believes people would have still found something negative something to say.
“If I would have posted the photo of my actual stomach in this photo, I would have probably been shamed too, even when I was wanting to be vulnerable with my journey. Why do we women have to compare ourselves with each other and then shame,” she asks.
Another important tidbit to remember is every women is unique, no pregnancy journey is the same and post-baby bodies vary from woman to woman.
“I say this to myself as much as I say this to y’all—why can’t it be that we are all different? Our bodies are all beautiful and craft differently, they heal different, they react different, they simply look different.
She ends her note suggesting this: “Can we lift women up, but not tear yourself down in the process of comparing? Let’s give that a try.”
Like Kramer, Chrissy Teigen was also body shamed following the birth of her second-born. To no surprise at all, the mom was sure to put her critic in his place.
