The gender-neutral name Azael is of Hebrew and Spanish origin. This modern spelling is rooted in the names Azariah and Hazel, meaning "strengthened by God" and "hazel tree." In the Hebrew Bible, Azariah refers to many fascinating figures, from guardian angels to high priests.
