Ginger

Ginger is a gender-neutral name. Although it’s taken from the Old English gingifer, it’s believed to have come from an ancient South Indian word which means “root.” However, the pungency of this particular spice lends Ginger as a name the meaning “pep” or “liveliness.” So although Ginger might be used exclusively today in reference to a red crown of locks, it can also foster a bubbly, vivacious spirit in baby.
