Riet

Though the gender-neutral name Riet is as short as can be, it's packed full of meanings. In the Dutch language, Riet is a diminutive of Marietje and Margriet, two monikers you may recognize as variants of Maria and Margaret. Deriving from the Hebrew Mary, Maria holds definitions like "sea of bitterness," "rebelliousness," "wished-for child," and "beloved." Even when they're making a ruckus or choosing not to use their listening ears, you won't be able to stop yourself from noticing how adorable your Riet is! Margaret means "pearl" in Greek, so it lends its elegant and radiant air to Riet. In the Engadine Valley and central Grisons, two Romansh-speaking Swiss regions, Riet is a variant of the Danish title Riget.
