This feminine name is a form of the French Sirene, Spanish and Late Latin Sirena, and ultimately inspired by the Greek Seirēn. Today, a siren is often defined as a “mermaid;” however, classical mythology tells that sirens were half bird, half woman-creatures who lured sailors with their enchanting voices. They simply loved snacking on unsuspecting voyagers passing by rocky coasts and were revered for their hypnotic abilities and incredible beauty.
