Sojourner

The name Sojourner is an American gender-neutral name. Made most famous by hero of the 19th century, Sojourner Truth. Defining the terms abolitionist and human rights activist, Sojourner Truth paved the way for history. She is known for having been an outspoken advocate for African Americans and women in the United States. She was illiterate all her life, but she still became published writer and well-regarded public speaker. Later in life she turned her focus to women’s rights with the help of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony.
