Beyonce's 6-Year-Old Daughter Joins Her on New Cowboy Carter Album
Beyoncé is once again making her music a family affair.
The 29-time Grammy-award winner released her Cowboy Carter album today and her 6-year-old daughter Rumi, made a special appearance. Listed next to her mom’s name on the performers for the song “Protector,” you can hear little Rumi intro the song saying, “Mom, can I hear the lullaby, please?"
The song, which is number four on the album, talks about Beyoncé’s motherly instinct. “I will lead you down that road if you lose your way. Born to be a protector. Even though I know someday you’re gonna shine on your own. I will be your projector,” she sings in the chorus. The song ends with children’s joyous voices being heard in the background.
This isn’t the first time Beyoncé involved a member of her family in her music. Last year, the Drunk in Love singer performed with her mini-me during an invite-only show in Dubai. The show was Beyoncé’s first live appearance in a little over four years and represents the first time Mom and mini performed together.
The two sang a duet of their Grammy-award-winning song BROWN SKIN GIRL while the audience cheered on. “Where are all my brown skin girls? Give it up for my baby, my brown skin girl, Miss Blue Ivy Carter,” Beyoncé said to the crowd.
Beyoncé’s husband Jay-Z, parents Tina Knowles-Lawson and Mathew Knowles and her three children were all invited to the big debut. “My beautiful children are here to see their mom perform,” Beyoncé told the audience.
Dressed in a red, sequin outfit, Blue Ivy sang her portion of BROWN SKIN GIRL, while her mom, wowed the audience with her vocals. The singing was accompanied by an all-women orchestra of 48 people.
Outside of BROWN SKIN GIRL, Beyoncé began the show with At Last by Etta James and covered some of her biggest hits over the decades, like Crazy in Love and Freedom.
We can’t wait to see more of this talented family!
