As an NFL star, influencer, and husband to Alison Kuch, Isaac Rochell is no stranger to hearing outrageous comments and unsolicited opinions. Now, as a new dad to baby Scottie, he’s facing even more unwelcome feedback—from outside critiques of his parenting to subtly racist remarks from strangers.

In a now-viral video, Rochell recounts a frustrating moment from a recent walk with his daughter and their dog. “I just got asked, ‘Is that your daughter?’” he shared, clearly exasperated by the encounter. He continued, “There needs to be a whole support group for Black dads with daughters who literally got zero percent of their pigment.”

Rochell then playfully zooms in on his daughter’s legs, noting, “She’s got D1 legs, but she’s definitely a White girl.” The proud dad added, “Scottie has none of my color,” highlighting the noticeable difference in their skin tones.

Expressing his annoyance with the frequently asked question, “Is that your daughter?” Rochell compared it to other intrusive queries like “How old are you?” or “How much do you weigh?” He emphasized, “Don’t ask me if this is my daughter. I’m a grown man pushing around a stroller with two dogs. You think I’m a nanny? I’m not the nanny. I’m a grown man.”

The video quickly resonated with parents and followers alike, sparking conversations about race, fatherhood and the assumptions people make based on appearances. “As someone now in an interracial relationship with kids from a previous relationship, let me tell you, the looks of confusion we get are annoying even if they don’t say anything you can literally see people trying to figure it out in their heads,” wrote one parent. “That’s like asking a lady how far along are you and she’s not pregnant,” added another.

Rochell and Kuch welcomed Scottie Bee in December 2023. Since then, the first-time parents have gone viral for their raw parenting takes on everything from postpartum recovery to the idea that “dads don’t babysit,”. Learn more about their family of three here.
