Josh Duhamel’s Son Axl Has Adorable Reaction to New Big Brother Role

Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! actor Josh Duhamel is welcoming another little one to his family, and his 10-year-old son Axl has some thoughts on the matter.

In a recent interview with Parade about his new reality show Buddy Games, the 50-year-old rom-com star spoke candidly about his growing family and how his son had reacted to the news.

Just as excited as Dad to welcome a new member to the family, Duhamel says that Axl also has quite a few questions. "He’s like, ‘Wait, now, am I going to be—You’re still going to love me, though, too, right?’ I was like, ‘Of course I’m going to still going to love you.’ And he’s like, ‘I’m still going to be your firstborn son, though, right?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, you’re still the firstborn son!’”

“He’s a really sweet kid. And he loves babies!” Duhamel said. “I was the same way at his age. I just have always loved babies. There’s something about them. And he’s really good with younger kids. So I think he’s going to be a great older brother.”

Axl doesn’t just have questions though, he also has some suggestions, specifically for his soon-to-be little sibling’s name. In an interview with Live with Kelly and Mark Duhamel revealed that Axl “wants to name the baby Gary,” but shot down the idea of him or his wife agreeing. “I think if we have a dog, we’ll name it Gary,” the actor quipped. “But no, no.”

The Transformers star and his wife, Audra Mari, first shared they were expecting on the day of their one-year wedding anniversary. “Baby Duhamel coming soon,” the couple simply captioned a shared Instagram post on September 11. The minimalist image is focused on a set of sonogram images of their new addition and a single white lily.

Friends and family members sent their congratulations and well wishes in the comments. “Congratulations beautiful people,” wrote Twilight actress Ashley Greene. “The most beautiful news to share with the most beautiful people!! Baby Duhamel is already so loved!! Can’t wait, love you so much,” wrote Kyla Gradin.

The Safe Haven actor’s ex-wife Fergie also sent her congratulations. “I am truly happy for you guys. Axl can’t wait to be a big brother," the singer wrote in the comments. Duhamel already shares 10-year-old son Axl with Fergie.

Two years after his divorce from Fergie, Duhamel began dating the 25-year-old former Miss North Dakota. The two tied the knot in North Dakota on the rooftop of Jasper Hotel in September 2022.
