NICU Nurses Capture Baby’s First Valentine’s Day
In the exhausting and stressful world of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), a little love can go a long way. That’s why for the past 18 years, Andrea Marazzi a NICU Nurse at Children’s Hospital Colorado, has done a little something special for the families that call the NICU home on Valentine’s Day.
Each year Marazzi gives out dozens of heart-shaped balloons to the families waiting to take their babies home. Not only a NICU nurse but a mom as well, Marazzi understands how hard spending Valentine’s Day in the hospital can be because she’s been there herself. Eight years ago, she and her son shared their own first Valentine’s Day in the NICU at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
In hopes of bringing more light and joy to families, Marazzi and the Children’s Hospital Colorado nursing staff went a step further this year, bringing in additional decorations and capturing sweet images of NICU babies on their first Valentine’s Day.
From love bugs to the cutest kissing booth operator, the nurses snapped adorable photos that’ll serve as a perfect keepsake Valentine for years to come. See some of our favorite photos below.
