17 Month Old
While it’s uncommon a toddler this age wouldn’t have a few words in his vocabulary, there’s not necessarily any cause for concern if they don’t -- so don’t panic. Does he point? Does he grunt? Does he make it clear that he understands what you’re saying? Stay patient, mama. Those are all signs that he’s getting closer.
Your Toddler at 17 Months
- He has tons of new tricks, like opening every cabinet door in the house, chucking his toys across the room, stripping off his diaper, and shrieking like a banshee.
- You might also find that he is either terrified of dogs and strangers or shows absolutely no fear at all. Offer support and supervision.
- A preference for Mommy above all others is common at this age. Tell Daddy not to take it personally; he's likely to get his turn as number-one later.
