Marjan

Marjan is a gender-neutral name not easily confined to neat categories. Considered a Dutch variant of Marianne, Marjan is rooted in the Hebrew Miriam, or Mīrəyām, translating to "sea of bitterness," "rebelliousness," "wished-for child," and "beloved." Endearments like "favor" and "graciousness" can also be added to Marjan's list of definitions, from the Hebrew Anna. As the Slavic form of Marianus, Marjan stakes its claim on the Roman family name Marius, so often tied to none other than the ancient god of war, Mars.
