Gentle on the tongue and pleasing to the senses, Melita is a Greek feminine name that means "honey-sweet." A variation of the Ancient Greek Melitê, which also means "calm" or "splendid," Melita is connected to an alluring cast of mythological figures. Perhaps the most famous is the daughter of the river god Aegaeus named Melite—a beautiful naiad who captured the affections of both Zeus and Heracles.
