English might only be approximately 700 years old, but the phrase “sweet tooth” is pretty well established. It was borne of the phrase “toothsome,” also relating to taste and delicious things. As this phrase became more and more colloquial, it adapted, eventually equating “tooth” to “taste.” So it was only natural that “sweet tooth” would arise, since humans have loved sweet treats as long as humanity’s been able to make them!

Generally, around the world, sweet things reign supreme, leading to kind gestures and delectable foods alike! But in some cultures, that sweetness of taste is a little different to others. But it’s believed that this dish came as a result of the herdsmen hanging the curd and yogurt overnight to make their traveling easier in the day!
Why do humans like sweet things?
Throughout the tumultuous years of growing up, humans are told that sweet things are an indulgence they can’t often afford—whether that’s the impending bedtime or some societal calorie count! But no matter how often sweets are seen as a no-no, humans just can’t get enough! Besides the human desire to have nice things, sugar translates in the body as energy. So back in the foraging days, finding sweet foods meant finding a source of energy to keep the body running at 100%. However, even without this urge for discovery, humans house “sweet genes!” These genes show up in your taste buds in order to let the brain know the quality of the food being ingested.
