Vuk

The name Vuk signals strength and bravery due to its translation of “wolf” in the Slavic languages. This name is particularly popular in Serbia, where traditionally it was given to baby boys whose mother’s had lost several previous children. It was believed that witches, who ate babies, were afraid of wolves, and thus wouldn’t dare steal a newborn named Vuk.
