After announcing her retirement earlier this year, 11-time Olympic medalist Allyson Felix officially finished her last race hand-in-hand with her daughter Camryn Grace earlier this month.

The Allyson Felix Race for a Change was the culmination of so many things that Felix wanted for her last season—finishing out her career in her hometown surrounded by people she loved and supporting the mothers and families she dedicated her career to.

The family-friendly event presented by Athleta included community and world elite races, a festival celebrating women changemakers, a private lactation and breastfeeding space and free professional childcare for all who needed it; a cornerstone of Felix’s advocacy.

There was no charge to enter the races or participate in the festival; Felix and Athleta instead asked for attendees to make donations to &Mother a nonprofit which supports mothers in the sports industry by providing them with resources—including onsite childcare for athletic events and the Women’s Sports Foundation which works to expand sports participation and leadership opportunities and fight for equitable access for all girls and women.

After her final race was completed, Felix stuck around to greet and talk with fans and young girls who aspired to make their mark in the track and field arena. The most decorated track and field athlete of all time, Felix recapped the emotional end in an Instagram post after the event.

“It’s hard for me to put into words what yesterday meant. It’s a full circle moment. To run my final race where it all began in front of my loved ones, friends and day one supporters was everything. An unforgettable moment I’ll hold with me forever,” Felix captioned the post.

She also shared her thanks for her sponsor Athleta, “You make me feel seen in every way. I’m so proud of the #PowerOfSheFund, our childcare efforts along with @womenssportsfoundation @andmother_org and all the ways we are working to make this a better world for women and girls.“

Even if you missed Felix’s last race, you can still donate to &Mother and the Women’s Sports Foundation in honor of Felix. You can also learn more about the track superstar’s fight for free childcare for all athlete moms here.
