Tru Fru Recalls Select Products Due to Potential Metal Contamination
Tru Fru’s frozen and chocolate-covered berries have quickly become a family favorite. But before you reach for your next snack, you may want to check the label.
Tru Fru recently announced the recall of select packages of its freeze-dried strawberries. The recall was issued after a consumer reported finding a piece of metal in a package of the freeze-dried strawberries. While no injuries or illnesses have been reported, the Food and Drug Administration warns that sharp foreign objects in food can cause serious harm, including cuts and perforations in the mouth, throat, stomach or intestines, as well as damage to teeth and gums.
The recalled products were distributed nationwide and sold both online and in stores including Albertson’s, CVS, Food Lion, H-E-B, Hungryroot, Ingles Markets, Kroger, Stew Leonard’s, and Target. The following Tru Fru Freeze-Dried Strawberry items are included in the recall:
- Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries in Dark & White Chocolate 3.4 oz — Item Number 10300458 — UPC 850048358270
- Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries in Dark & White Chocolate 1.7 oz — Item Number 10300442 — UPC 850048358331

- Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries & Crème 3.4 oz — Item Number 10300455 — UPC 850048358249
You can find the item and UPC codes on the back of each package. No other Tru Fru products are affected by this voluntary recall nor are any lots outside of those listed above.
