Twin Pregnancy With One Heartbeat?

Is it weird that the doctor only heard one heartbeat, but now, at my ultrasound, he can see twins?

You may credit your OB with numerous super-powers, but X-ray vision and super-sonic hearing probably aren’t among them. Fact is, in the early going it’s difficult to hear even one heartbeat until around week 12.

So it’s not until he starts waving the ultrasound wand that he’s able to get visual confirmation that there’s more than one little heart thumping away.
