The title character in “The Lion King,” Simba, is a lion cub being raised by his father, Mufasa, and mother, Sarabi, in a place called the Pride Lands. Mufasa spends much time teaching the impressionable cub how to behave like a king, which Simba will become once Mufasa, whom he idolizes, passes on. Simba thinks being king means being fearless, which sometimes puts him in danger. He can be arrogant and full of himself but also selfless and understanding. Though big and brave, an older Simba has strong self-doubts that he could ever be a great ruler like Mufasa.
