It had been 10 years since Jessie James Decker decorated her last nursery, so when Crate & Kids reached out to help the soon-to-be mom of four pull together her dream space, it was an easy yes.

“When their design team asked me what I was feeling, I immediately just felt like a Colorado nature theme just felt right. All three of my kids were born in Colorado, and Colorado is very special to me and Eric,” Decker told People.

The country-pop singer, who is married to former Denver Broncos quarterback Eric Decker, wanted to ensure that her youngest had the same connection to the state her family loved even though the Decker family had moved on to a home in Tennessee. “Our life really started in Colorado and we won’t be able to have this sweet baby in Colorado, but I wanted to bring a little Colorado to Tennessee so that he didn’t feel left out,” she explains. “And so I put together some mood boards and they sent over three different ideas to choose from.”

To begin the process, the expectant mom first established a calm and grounded nature-inspired color scheme that she loved. “…Once I had seen the vision. I had to have the terracotta, I had to have an olive green. It just felt right and it really just went with the vibe,” she noted.

When it came to the other items that would go in the space, Decker, a veteran mom, had a pretty good grasp on what she wanted to include and what she didn’t. “I think because I’d done this so many times, I definitely knew what was necessary and what wasn’t necessary,” she said. “But I think if anything, what has been the biggest surprise is all the new updated items that they continue to come out with that didn’t exist when I started having babies 10 years ago.”

“I’m continuously blown away by the technology and the things that they’ve come up with to make it easier for new mothers where I was like, ‘Wait a minute, where was this when I was starting out?’”

Once all the items were picked out, Decker’s husband Eric played a pivotal role in “making sure they had the proper measurements and the proper layout of the room and made sure when we had people come to paint or do certain things, he was really hands-on on the technical part of everything,” she said noting that she was “really appreciative" of her husband’s help and input.

The result—a totally cool and cozy nursery that captures the magic of Colorado and the great outdoors. The nursery, divided into zones, offers dedicated areas for sleep, play, and reading.

In the sleep area, a convertible crib and terracotta rug shine as central heirloom pieces. In the play area, a woven bear hamper offers a stylish place to stash toys or dirty onesies, while a woodland activity mat offers a distraction during diaper changes. In the reading area, minimal ledge shelves display favorite books and heirloom toys, and a cozy swivel glider for snuggling up with a good book.

“I’m just excited and I’m just so ready and I cannot wait to meet this little guy. And I just know we’re going to be all so obsessed with him," Decker says.
