Brittany Mahomes Shares Her ‘Golden’ Nursery Details and Must-Haves

The Mahomes family is shining brighter than ever with the arrival of their third child, Golden Raye. To celebrate their newest addition, Brittany Mahomes partnered with Crate & Kids to create a nursery as radiant and beautiful as her daughter’s name. To inspire your own nursery dreams, we caught up with the Kansas City Current co-owner and mom of three to get all the details—from her nursery must-haves to what she did differently this time around and how the family is navigating this major transition. The Bump: How did you want to make this nursery different from Bronze and Sterling’s?

Brittany Mahomes: When I found out I was having a girl, my mind immediately went to pink for the nursery. Sterling’s nursery was also pink, but much brighter and airier. With this nursery, I wanted a cozier, moody vibe and felt like the dusty rose was the perfect palette. We shared our inspiration with the Crate & Kids Design Desk team, and were blown away by the designs they created for us.

TB: What’s the one item you believe every nursery absolutely needs?

BM: You spend a lot of long nights in the nursery with your newborn, so having a comfortable place to sit is a necessity. I love the Nessa Sherpa Glider from Crate & Kids. The high back and armrests keep you comfortable, and it looks great in the room…They even helped us select a glider that has an adjustable ottoman to ensure we can both sit comfortably in the glider at night.

TB: Is there something you included in your last two nurseries that you decided to skip this time around?

BM: I’ve learned more with every baby that you don’t need nearly as much as you think you do, especially in the early days! I always tell new Moms to focus on the essentials for newborns—a crib for them to grow in and a glider to rock them at night, plus smaller things like a bassinet, diapers and onesies are also needed. Don’t forget to add cute clothes and larger items to the registry in sizes for when they’re a little older.

TB: Transitions can be challenging. How are you preparing yourself mentally for this new chapter?

BM: The jump from 1 to 2 [kids] was tougher for us than 0 to 1! Having a toddler running around while you’re trying to recover and take care of baby is not for the faint of heart. It’ll be tough this time with 2 older kids, although Sterling is really excited to help out with her baby sister.

TB: Have you and Patrick talked about how to balance time and attention between three kids, especially during those early months?"

BM: We have talked about it and he is ready to take on a larger role to focus on the two older kiddos so I can focus on baby. However, he’s always ready to help in any way that he can. He loves being a dad; dancing and playing/being silly with the kids are probably some of his favorite things to do with them. If you have ever watched Bluey, they like to make their dad act like Bandit!
