Origin:Greek
Meaning:Glory of Hera
More commonly known as Hercules, the story of Heracles is famous worldwide. In Greek mythology, Heracles was the son of Zeus and named honorably after Zeus' wife, Hera. Heracles' ancient story is one far more tragic than the bright and upbeat Disney version. He performed tasks known as the Twelve Labors, which were said to be impossible feats—slaying infamous creatures, capturing others, cleansing stables, and several other harrowing tasks. After completing the Twelve Labors, proving his strength and skill, he is said to have murdered his wife and family in a fit of madness. However, baby's legacy won't be a tragedy, and the name Heracles can give baby the resounding sentiments of strength and perseverance.
