Since well before Christianity, humans have believed in the divine right to rule all around the world. This came in the form of kings, pharaohs, emperors, and other high-ranking positions. For instance, the Inca in ancient Peru, during the 15th century, had a king known as Sapa Inca. But far before that, kings were ruling at the same time as the ancient Egyptian pharaohs in Egypt and Ethiopia—around 5,000 years ago!
