Bugaboo Giraffe High Chairs Recalled Due to Fall Risk
High chairs should make mealtime easier, not more stressful. If your little one uses a Bugaboo Giraffe high chair, you’ll want to check the model. More than 18,000 have just been recalled after reports of the chairs unexpectedly collapsing, posing a serious risk of injury.
Why Are Bugaboo Giraffe High Chairs Being Recalled?
Bugaboo has issued a voluntary recall for its Giraffe High Chairs in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). According to the CPSC, the highchairs pose a fall hazard and risk of serious injury or death to babies because the legs of the chair can detach from the frame if the screws connecting the legs are not properly tightened during assembly.
The recall comes a day after Consumer Reports urged the CPSC to conduct an investigation and recall. In the months prior, several parents posted warnings about the high chair’s risk of collapse on Reddit, Amazon, Instagram and TikTok. So far, Bugaboo has received 22 reports of high chairs collapsing during use. Thirteen families have reported injuries to their child from the collapse ranging from bruises and abrasions to a temporary loss of consciousness.
How Do I Know If My Child Carrier Is Affected?
The recall includes about 18,280 Bugaboo Girrafe High Chairs sold at Bugaboo.com, Amazon.com and other retailers between May 2023 through April 2025 for about $380. The affected carriers include those in the following colors with the following item codes:

- Black, 200008004
- Neutral Wood/White, 200008002
- Warm Wood/Gray, 200008003
- White, 200008001
You can locate item codes on the bottom of the seat.
What should I do if I have a recalled Bugaboo Giraffe High Chair?
If your high chair is affected, stop using it immediately. Bugaboo is offering a free repair kit, including an Allen key and new screws to install into the product’s legs to all impacted customers. No refund are being offered at the time.
“While we are glad to see the product being recalled, it is unacceptable that Bugaboo is not offering a refund to consumers who want one,” Gabe Knight, Senior Policy Analyst at Consumer Reports said in a press release. “Babies have been injured falling from this high chair, and parents may not feel comfortable using it anymore. We applaud the CPSC for recalling this product and alerting consumers to the potential safety risks, but Bugaboo should let caretakers decide whether they want the free repair kit, or their money back.”
