Ed Sheeran has made millions tear up with his music, and now, as a dad of two, he’s sharing plenty of heartfelt—and helpful—dad wisdom. Chatting with Kylie Kelce on an episode of Not Gonna Lie, the Shape of You singer offered his best advice for first-time dads: “Always be the one that makes the breakfast in the morning, always be the one who gets up first in the morning and let your partner have her lie in,” he said.

When it comes to his own dad duties, Sheeran admits that one of his favorite ways to connect is through story time. “I actually love the morning shift and the evening shift. Reading 40 different stories and having someone fall asleep on your shoulder is really lovely,” he shared.

Kelce, who welcomed her fourth daughter just three months ago, added that her husband Jason has become the family’s official storyteller. “Jason gets talked into book after book after book. Every so often, I’ll hear from the other room, and I get to listen to him reading the stories and the girls’ reactions. He does all the voices for them and stuff, so it’s so much fun to listen to.”

Sheeran reflected on the beauty of those moments: “I’m always saying we are living in the good ol’ days. That moment you have with your husband, you listening—that’s a moment in 30 years’ time you’ll be like, ‘Oh man, wasn’t that nice.’ These are the days that we really will miss, and they go by so fast. It’s suddenly like kids starting school, and that’s it, now they are getting grown up.”

The singer and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, share two daughters: Lyra, 5, and Jupiter, 3. Sheeran stunned fans in 2022 when he announced the birth of his second child after keeping the pregnancy entirely under wraps. “Want to let you all know we’ve had another beautiful baby girl. We are both so in love with her and over the moon to be a family of four,” he captioned a simple photo on Instagram showing a brown quilted blanket and a tiny pair of infant socks.
