Mom Sets World Record for Fastest Barefoot Run Across LEGOs
There are just some things moms are uniquely equipped to handle. From feats of superhuman strength, like lifting a car off a child, to enduring being puked on for the fifth time during stomach flu season, no one quite steps up to the plate like mom. But one mom recently took her talents to the next level by claiming a world record.
Gabrielle Wall, a mom of two in New Zealand, earned her spot in the Guinness World Records this year after completing the fastest barefoot 100-meter dash across LEGOs. She sprinted over more than 660 pounds of LEGOs, finishing in just 24.75 seconds.
To prepare, Wall trained herself to run with a wider stance to help keep her footing on the unsteady—and frankly, painful—surface. The 660 pounds of LEGOs were donated by Imagination Station, a New Zealand charity that uses LEGO in its educational robotics and mechanics programs for kids.
After experiencing a health scare in 2022, Wall added breaking a world record to her bucket list. “I am proud to have pushed myself to new limits,” she told Guinness World Records, reflecting on her achievement.
In the comments on the video of Wall’s record-breaking sprint, parents and fans joked that this was quite the “feet.” One wrote, “She just smashed the world record for running on Lego barefoot… which only proves one thing: she’s 100% a mum. No Olympic training, no secret coaching, just years of midnight bathroom trips dodging Lego landmines left by her kids. Forget steel caps, this woman’s feet are forged in the fires of motherhood.” Another quipped, “Why…would someone even start learning how to do this?” Even sandwich brand Jimmy John’s joined in, joking, “Proof moms will do anything for a day off.”
