Pop culture’s influence on names strikes again. In the late 1960s, Corey got a lot of recognition thanks to the groundbreaking TV show 'Julia', which featured a young African-American boy named Corey. The name—unisex, but usually given to boys—was a late 1980s favorite as well, due to the popularity of young movie stars Corey Feldman and Corey Haim. It's no longer quite as common today, and whenever that happens, it's an opportunity to give your child a name you won’t hear countless times on the playground.
