Been There: Big Brother Reacts to Baby Kicks for the First Time (WATCH)
Getting a toddler adjusted to the idea of a new baby joining the family can be a challenging process. Between needing extra attention and confusion over why mom has less energy to play, any big-sibling-to-be can get left feeling a little out of the loop. In fact, there are a lot of new—even startling—things for a toddler to adjust to. One of those very confusing moments is depicted perfectly in a recent viral video.
In a video posted on the Facebook page Love What Matters, a toddler is shown giggling and staring at his mom’s exposed pregnant belly, up until the moment when he sees the baby kick.
In what can only be described as pure terror, the boy whips his head around to stare at the camera in shock, then scoots away quickly out of the frame.
His mom, of course, bursts out laughing.
The post has gone viral, with over a million viewers and 17,000 shares to date. Commenters are definitely in on the joke.
“I’m dying! I’m with you fella! I watch my sister’s stomach all the time! It’s cool and creepy at the same time,” one user writes.
“I was snuggled back into my husband when I was about 38 weeks with our first and he had his arm draped over my huge bump. She rolled from one side to the other—she stretched out so much it hurt me—and my husband looks at me incredulously and asks, ‘OMG, did you feel that?’. I laughed so hard I’m surprised I didn’t go into labor then,” another user shares.
Moms have always struggled to explain just what the sensation of baby kicking feels like. A recent study examined just how powerful the force of baby’s kicks are and—you guessed it—they’re pretty strong. In this case, it looks like seeing is believing.
