Detroit Lions’ Jared Goff Shares His Daughter’s Arrival and Name
Jared Goff will head into his next NFL season forever changed.
The Detroit Lions quarterback and his wife, Christen Harper, have announced the arrival of their first child together. “Romy Isabelle Goff,” the couple simply captioned black-and-white photos of their newborn daughter on Instagram. In the sweet snaps, baby Romy sleeps peacefully in a striped hat as her proud parents look on with love.
The couple hasn’t yet shared the inspiration behind their daughter’s name, but it’s one that is certainly growing in popularity. Since 1995, the name Romy has jumped 10,565 spots to break into the top 1,000 most popular girl names in the US. A name of Latin origin, Romy traditionally means “dew of the sea,” and invokes calm and healing energy.
Romy’s arrival comes on the heels of an exciting season for the Lions. Goff led the team to the top of their division and an impressive playoff run, ultimately falling to the Washington Commanders in the NFC Divisional Round.
Goff and Harper first announced their pregnancy in April 2025 with a sweet black-and-white video shot along the beach. “6 months of this little love,” they captioned the post, which showed Harper’s baby bump peeking over her jeans.
Goff and Harper first met on the dating app Raya in 2019 and tied the knot in June 2024 in Ojai, California.
