Olivia Culpo & Christian McCaffrey Welcome Baby Girl with French Name
Olivia Culpo and Christian McCaffrey are officially parents!
The model and NFL star announced the arrival of their daughter on July 13. “Colette Annalise McCaffrey,” the couple captioned a series of black-and-white photos offering a close-up look at their newborn, the new family of three and tender moments between mom, dad and baby.
The McCaffrey baby’s name strikes a perfect balance between timeless and on-trend. Colette a name of French origin dating back to 816 and meaning “people of victory,” has become increasingly popular in the US over the past decade. Once ranked as low as 1,518th in 2007, Colette has steadily climbed the charts and now sits within the top 400 names for girls. Her middle name Annalise, a name of Hebrew origin, meaning “God is my oath” and “favor” or “grace,” may have seen a slower rise to popularity but remains in the top 500 names since 2013.
While celebrity baby names may be trending more traditional, Culpo’s pregnancy cravings were anything but expected. From pickles to Chinese takeout, double Whoppers and late-night ice cream runs, cravings tend to have a mind of their own. But while junk food or sweets might be the go-to for many parents-to-be a pregnant Olivia Culpo kept things suprisingly green.
According to the San Francisco 49ers star, one of Culpo’s biggest cravings was for leafy greens. “She’s been craving salads,” McCaffrey told People in April. “I never knew that was a thing. I don’t know what it is about the leaves, but she’s been craving them.” He added with a laugh, “I guess that’s the craving you would want to have.”
The former Miss Universe announced she and McCafferey were expecting their first child together on March 10. “Next chapter, motherhood,” Culpo captioned a photo showcasing her baby bump, draped in an ethereal one-shoulder gown. Shortly after, the couple shared a Reel featuring heartwarming snippets from their maternity shoot, with McCaffrey in soft neutrals and Culpo in a simple white silk dress.
The NFL running back and influencer first met on a blind date set up by friends in June 2019. Just over four years later, they tied the knot in June 2024 in Culpo’s home state of Rhode Island.
Friends and fans quickly flooded the comments with love and congratulations. “Uncle Juice can’t wait to meet his godchild! Congrats guys,” wrote McCaffrey’s teammate and 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk. “You, my thoughtful, understanding, full-of-life friend, will be a phenomenal mom. Welcome to the club, Olivia,” added Emmy Award-winning TV host Jeannie Mai. One fan gushed, “This is going to be the most attractive baby with the most elite genes.”
Many fans also celebrated Culpo’s pregnancy as a powerful moment for those struggling with endometriosis. The model has been an outspoken advocate for awareness and previously shared her own 12-year struggle with the disorder. “Endometriosis never wins,” one fan commented. Another added, “OMG, fellow endo mom here and I know what a miracle this is for you… congratulations.” A third shared, “This brings hope to all of us with endometriosis.”
Culpo first opened up about her endometriosis journey in 2020, revealing she had undergone surgery for the condition. “Yesterday I had surgery for my endometriosis. Not a very glamorous post but I felt like I needed to share this to create more awareness around this disease,” she wrote in a candid post.
“Endometriosis is a condition where tissue from the uterine lining decides to grow in other random parts of your body, causing pain. This can interfere with fertility and overall health and, honestly, happiness. To top things off, it is excruciatingly painful but nearly impossible to see through an ultrasound (unless you have endometrioma/chocolate cysts on your ovaries—that’s what I had).”
“To anyone out there who has endometriosis, I understand the depression and overall loneliness that can occur with a condition that is so painful yet so hard to be interpreted by other people outside of the body,” she continued. “It’s hard when chronic pain is not validated and you don’t get an answer or understanding. To my Endo warriors, I will continue to spread more awareness around endometriosis so that your symptoms can be validated. You are not alone and you are so strong!”
