Arlo

Arlo is a gender-neutral name of English origin. This short and sweet moniker caught the attention of The Bump community member queenbone, who says, "I'm a sucker for an -o ending name." (We totally get it!)

English poet Edmund Spenser must have liked the sound of Arlo too; while writing his epic, The Faerie Queene, he created the dreamy fictional destination Arlo Hill. Arlo's usage as a first name may have come directly from this poem, but it's unclear where Spenser got it from. Perhaps it's an English spin on Aherlow, an Irish place name that translates to "between two highlands." Arlo's alternate spelling, Arlow, is said to stem from Harlow, another well-loved English title that means "army hill" or "strong hill." Whatever its beginnings, Arlo will represent the empowerment and courage your little one will find on their upward journey through life.
