If you had maternity photos taken, we’re willing to bet you loved glamming up for the camera. But have you ever thought about what it’s like for the photographer? One New York City photographer, Emily Burke of Emily Burke Photography, shared with The Bump what’s so special about being behind the lens.
“Maternity sessions are probably my favorite to shoot,” Burke says. “I love working with beautiful environments and soft, magical lighting. Throw in a willing and excited subject who is at the most beautiful and emotional time in her life and you have an absolutely perfect situation to create real-life magic with your client.”
Burke sent some of that magic our way, sharing one Brooklyn couple’s indoor/outdoor shoot. “My clients lived next door to Prospect Park in New York City, one of the most scenic parks ever. She was so prepared with her wardrobe that we ended up doing about five outfit changes. Working with clients that are just as invested in the session as I am is a dream come true.”
Burke also loves making a shoot a family affair. “I was also really excited to incorporate the big sister, whose newborn shots I did just a little over two years ago,” she says. “It has been so much fun getting to photograph clients that expand their families over the years.”
