Labor can be unbelievably exhausting, as can those first few nights of parenthood. During those long hours in the hospital, even the most well-intentioned husbands can fall asleep, but that’s not necessarily helpful when you’re awake and, most likely, in pain. One mom’s solution to keep her husband awake is genius—and it’s going viral.

Samantha, Mravik-Miller took to Facebook to post about idea, writing, “Mom hack level 1,0000. Worried about the nights in the hospital with your new born & dad sleeping? Well… then don’t forget one of these in your hospital bag,” along with a picture of a Nerf gun.

The Wisconsin mom told CafeMom the idea stemmed from previous experience, when her husband slept through baby’s cries at the hospital during the days after the birth of her now, 6-year-old son, Chase. “[Chase] was really fussy after his birth because he breathed in the meconium from having a bowel movement before birth,” she explained in an interview with the outlet. “I remember having been on oxygen, I had no voice. My call button was out of reach. At the time, she didn’t have a Nerf gun on hand, so she used what she had available. I resorted to throwing a water bottle at him to get his help and I missed.”

For the birth of her second child, Laeghan, born on December 12, Mravik-Miller came prepared. “This time I had to have a C-section, so I knew I was going to be less mobile than the last time," she told CafeMom. “I thought Heck no, and with the 400 Nerf guns we have and being an all-boy mom, I have some good aim.”

Her husband noticed her putting it in their hospital bag, but this time around however, she didn’t need it. “Maybe because he knew the threat was there,” she joking told CafeMom, adding that her husband has a good sense of humor when it comes to these things.

She wanted to put out her story because she felt like other moms might be able to resonate—and they do. So far, the post has been shared 17,000 times and has over 8,000 comments. “Should of thought of one of these instead of throwing everything I could reach at you,” one woman joked while tagging her partner, while another tagged her friend and wrote, “A must have for the hospital bag!”

This mom hack is definitely one for the books!
