Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell Have Welcomed Their Daughter

Bindi Irwin is a mom!

She and husband Chandler Powell welcomed their daughter on March 25—which also just happens to be their first wedding anniversary.

“Celebrating the two loves of my life. Happy first wedding anniversary to my sweetheart husband and day of birth to our beautiful daughter Grace Warrior Irwin Powell,” she wrote in an Instagram post announcing the birth. “Our graceful warrior is the most beautiful light.”

She also explained in the post that she opted to name her daughter Grace to honor her great-grandmother, as well as relatives in Chandler’s family dating back to the 1700s. “Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior,” she continued. “Her last name is Powell and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad. There are no words to describe the infinite amount of love in our hearts for our sweet baby girl. She chose the perfect day to be born and we feel tremendously blessed.”

The couple tied the knot on March 25, 2020 in a ceremony held at her family’s Australia Zoo. The couple announced the pregnancy in August 2020 and revealed the sex of the baby just a month later. Irwin has kept her followers up to date on her pregnancy, sharing her thoughts, as well as sweet photos throughout, including her sweet recreation of her parents’ maternity photo.

Earlier this year, she sat down with The Bump to share how she’s been approaching her pregnancy, thoughts around baby names and how she’s carrying on her late father’s legacy.

“We are waiting to meet her before we decide on a name. We want to hold her and make sure the name that we choose fits her perfectly. We have been looking through family history on both my side and Chandler’s side for family name inspiration. Once she arrives I think we’ll know exactly what to name her,” she said at the time. “My dad was the first person to create the term ‘Wildlife Warrior’. Being a Wildlife Warrior means to stand up and speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. We’ve been referring to our daughter as our Baby Wildlife Warrior. I know in my heart that she will forge her own path to make our planet a better place."
