John Mulaney and Olivia Munn Welcome Baby No. 2 Via Surrogate

Olivia Munn and John Mulaney aren’t letting obstacles keep them from growing their family!

The standup comedian and actress revealed they had welcomed a second child on September 22. “Méi June Mulaney came into the world September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon,” Munn captioned a carousel of photos, including one of herself and Mulany holding their newborn in the hospital, two closeups of baby Méi and mom and one photo of the whole family, including their 2-year-old son Malcolm.

Méi, as Munn explained in her photo caption, means plum in Chinese. The name also loosely translates to “gorgeous” and has rapidly grown in popularity among girls in the US since the early 2000s. “I am so proud of my little plum, my little dragon for making the journey to be with us. My heart has exploded.”

Munn who was unexpectedly diagnosed with luminal B breast cancer in April 2023, underwent surgery to remove her uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries to stop the production of the hormones that cause her cancer in April 2024. The now mom of two opened up about the struggles and blessings associated with her surrogacy journey along with Méi’s birth announcement.

“I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter,” Munn wrote. “When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel. Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come true.”

Friends, fans, and fellow celebrities sent their congratulations to Munn and Mulaney in the comments. “Omg chills!!! This is amazing news wow guys,” wrote Amanda Kloots. “She’s perfect. Congrats,” added Alyssa Milano. “Okay but Mei and Malcom just flow so well….get them a sitcom now,” joked a fan.

Munn and Mulaney welcomed their first baby together, Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney, in November 2021. Just a few months after welcoming her “Golden Ox baby,” Munn opened up about postpartum life in a Mother’s Day post.

“Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there, but especially to the moms who are struggling with postpartum depression/anxiety, still wearing their maternity clothes because you’ve realized that the snap back is bullshit and so unreal and feel insecure as they scroll through Insta today realizing they don’t have the energy, creativity or brain power to post a beautiful pic of motherhood,” she captioned a photo of herself eating a fried chicken wing wearing an oversized button down.
