Robert De Niro Shares Name and Photo of His New Baby Girl
After spilling the beans about welcoming his seventh child earlier this week, Robert De Niro is now revealing more details about his new addition.
During an interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings De Niro disclosed that he and his partner Tiffany Chen had welcomed their baby girl Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro, on April 6.
Weighing in at 8 lbs, 6 oz., Gia made her TV debut in her pink onesie as King flashed a photo of the newborn on the screen, adding that De Niro and Chen are “over the moon about their little girl.” De Niro also confirmed that Gina’s arrival was planned and that “they both wanted this baby” and she was “brought here by love.”
In a May 8th interview with ET Canada for his new film About My Father the Oscar winner shared the news that he had recently welcomed a new baby to the family. When the interviewer asked De Niro about his six children, he corrected her saying, “Seven, actually. I just had a baby.” While the Goodfellas actor has yet to reveal the mother of or the name of his seventh child, representatives for De Niro did confirm the news.
The 79-year-old has six children from previous relationships ranging in age from 51 to 11. He shares daughter Drena, 51, and son Raphael, 46, with his first wife, Diahnne Abbott. In 1995, he welcomed twin sons Julian and Aaron, 27, with his former girlfriend, Toukie Smith. He also shares son Elliot, 24, and daughter Helen Grace, 11, with his ex-wife, Grace Hightower.
The loving father of now seven doesn’t consider himself a “cool dad” but had a few nuggets of wisdom to share with parents in his interview. “I mean, there’s no way around it with kids. I don’t like to have to lay down the law and stuff like that. But, [sometimes] you just have no choice,” he explained. “And any parent, I think, would say the same thing. You always want to do the right thing by the children and give them the benefit of the doubt but sometimes you can’t.”
The Academy award winner continued on saying that while his kids disagree with him at times, they’re respectful. “My daughter, she’s 11, she gives me grief sometimes and I argue with her. I adore her, but, you know. And my youngest now, that’ll be more to come. But, that’s what it is,” he noted.
Our congratulations to De Niro on his new addition!
