Harry Potter Star Bonnie Wright Has Welcomed Her First Child

Another Hogwarts baby has arrived! Bonnie Wright and her husband Andrew Lococo welcomed their first son on September 17.

The outspoken environmental activist, known for her role as Ginny in the Harry Potter movies, shared the news on Instagram on September 27. “Say hello to Elio Ocean Wright Lococo. Born at home on Tuesday 19th September. We’re all healthy and happy. Andrew and I are so in love with our sun 🌞!” Wright wrote.

A masculine name of Italian, Spanish and Latin origins, Elio comes from the name Aelius and means “the sun.” Since the early 2000’s the name Elio has grown in popularity but still remains relatively rare as the 1825th most popular name for boys.

Wright and Lococo went on to thank those who helped them through their home birth including their midwives, doula and doctor. Wright also thanked those who showed up for her during her healing postpartum days. “We’ve been visited by some angels thank you @meaghan_snider_ @motherbees and @themilkywaymamas and thank you @ccmeyer for your incredibly informative course I took in the early weeks of pregnancy. Birth workers are amazing,” the Go Gently author wrote.

“Lastly thanks to Andrew my rock throughout birth quite literally as I squeezed onto you so tight and you never wavered. Elio has the most tender loving papa. Ok hormonal emotional extra long caption over,” she joked.

Wright’s Harry Potter castmates congratulated her on her new arrival and pointed out a unique Potter connection. “Awwww congratulations Bonnie and Andrew!!! Welcome to Earth, Elio Ocean!!! P.s. Hermione’s birthday twin, I’m sure you’ve been told,” Luna Lovegood actress Evanna Lynch added.

Wright and Lococo first announced they were expecting back in May 2023. “We’re having a baby! So excited to share this beautiful land with them. What a wild and humbling journey pregnancy is, transforming to make space for new life. Andrew and I can’t wait to meet our baby later this year and become parents,” Wright wrote.

“It feels like they’re coming to say hello in the little rainbow orb across my belly,” she added in reference to the glimmer of light running through the photo of her and Lococo. Long-time lovers Wright and Lococo wed in a beautiful and sustainable ceremony at The Ecology Center in San Juan Capistrano, California, in March 2022.
