Game of Thrones' Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson and Wife Kelsey Are Expecting

Watch out world, there’s another Björnsson baby on the way!

Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson — best known for his role as Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane on Game of Thrones —announced on October 20 that he and his wife Kelsey Henson are expecting their second baby together.

“Life is precious and I couldn’t be happier to announce that our family is growing bigger. Kelsey is 19 weeks pregnant with a healthy child who we cannot wait to meet,” Björnsson wrote on Instagram.

In the accompanying photo, the Icelandic strongman poses with his wife and three-year-old son, Stromur. The older brother-to-be can be seen wearing a simple black tee with the word “Brother” written across the front and is shown kissing mom’s bare bump in the second slide of the photo carousel.

Björnsson noted that Henson declined to know the gender of their second child, so everyone will “wait just like me!” Outside of their joint announcement, the couple also shared a short video on YouTube where they speak about their long fertility journey. In the video, Henson recalls the excruciating two years during which the couple was trying to get pregnant and ultimately decided to go through with IVF, which ultimately failed.

“I was very very sad yeah I was really sad. I didn’t think I would take it how I did but I was like crying and it was like telling my family that I had done it and that it didn’t work was really hard,” Henson recounted. “I remember when we came home I was like literally in a depressed state for weeks I was just like not want to go to the gym I was just on the sofa watching TV all-day long for weeks.”

“Luckily, we got pregnant naturally a month later,” Henson recounted and the couple welcomed their now 3-year-old Stormur. The second time around with their current pregnancy, it was another long road of IVF, this time, though, the couple had success with transfer and are currently expecting baby number two!

Henson announced the news on her page as well, writing “We are so very happy to share that Stormur will be a big brother in March! He is already taking the role very seriously, cuddling moms belly, blowing raspberries for the baby and pretending to be a baby himself.”
