Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery Is Pregnant with Her First Child
Downton Abbey may be having its great finale, but Michelle Dockery is opening a new chapter.
The award-winning actress, beloved for her role as Lady Mary Crawley in the British period drama, stepped out on the Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale red carpet on Thursday with quite the surprise—a new baby bump. Dockery wore a dusty blue off-the-shoulder gown with delicate embellishments and a long train for her big bump debut and was joined on the carpet by her husband and soon-to-be dad, Jasper Waller-Bridge.
Fans were eager to celebrate and congratulate Dockery on her big news. “So pleased for Michelle. She looks radiant,” one commenter wrote on the official Downton Abbey Instagram page. “The best pregnancy reveal,” another added. “Lady Mary is a radiant mum to be wow!” chimed in another.
Dockery’s romance with Waller-Bridge follows her relationship with fiancée John Dineen, who died in 2015 at 34 from a rare form of cancer. Dockery and Waller-Bridge—a creative director of a management company and brother to Phoebe Waller-Bridge—were married in 2023 in a small London ceremony.
