Bachelor’s Colton Underwood and Husband Are Expecting a Baby
Bachelor alum Colton Underwood and his husband Jordan C. Brown are expecting their first child, a baby boy! Underwood shared the news on May 21 with an Instagram post captioned, “Our little boy is coming this fall.” The post also showcased a carousel of adorable photos from the couple, including pictures of sonograms and snippets from their interview with Men’s Health. In the interview, Underwood opened up about the couple’s journey to parenthood, how overwhelming he found the fertility process and how he grappled with his low sperm count.
“I just figured I’d be good,” Underwood told the outlet. “I figured Jordan would be good. We’re healthy.” The experience left him inspired to raise awareness on the issue for other men starting their fertility journeys. “I was like, ‘Oh, I should talk about this publicly, because nobody talks about this publicly.”
After a two-year journey, including choosing an egg donor to create embryos, the couple was able to conceive via a surrogate. “Our doctor actually let our surrogate tell us, which I thought was so special. She got to text us and share the exciting news, and it was such a moment of, I think, relief for us,” Underwood shared. He also detailed how he and Jordan have developed a close bond with their surrogate, including her husband and child. “We’re very protective over her,” he said. “We’ve been to every single doctor’s appointment. Her family’s come over to the house for dinner. She’s an incredible human being.”
Looking ahead, the pair is excited for this next chapter—and have been looking forward to it for a long time. “That was one of the things we bonded over early in our relationship. We both wanted to be dads,” Underwood told People. “But it’s been such an incredible experience for us to go through this together, and I cannot wait to watch Jordan become a dad.”
The couple is expecting their son in October of this year. To prepare, Underwood shares he’s been chatting with people to get their experiences and building community, while Jordan’s been downloading baby apps and reading baby books. The pair also have a name picked out, but they’re waiting to meet baby before making things official. But while the couple has been busy preparing for baby’s arrival, Underwood said he’s mostly just excited to dive head first into fatherhood. “I still have my same blanket that I went home from the hospital in, so I’ve kept it with me this entire time,” he shared. “Wrapping him in that and just loving on him and showing him the world, and being able to watch Jordan hold and feed him and having late nights and early mornings and all of the things that come with being a dad is what I’m looking forward to.”
