F1 Driver Max Verstappen Welcomes First Child With Kelly Piquet
A future Formula 1 superstar has arrived!
Reigning Formula One World Drivers’ champion Max Verstappen and his girlfriend Kelly Piquet, daughter of three-time F1 legend Nelson Piquet, announced the arrival of their first child together on May 2. “Welcome to the world, sweet Lily,” the couple captioned black and white photos of their newborn baby girl. “Our hearts are fuller than ever - you are our greatest gift. We love you so much.”
The couple went with the ever popular but casually cool name of Lily for their daughter. With Latin roots meaning “lily flower” or “pure,” Lily has long been a favorite among parents and ranked among the Top 20 most popular girls’ names in the US in 2023.
The couple first shared that they were expecting in December 2024. Alongside a black-and-white photo featuring the mom and dad to be’s hands intertwined across Piquot’s baby bump the two wrote, “Mini Verstappen-Piquet on the way. We couldn’t be happier with our little miracle.”
Family, friends and fellow racers congratulated the couple on their big news in the comments. “So happy to welcome another one in the family,” wrote Verstappen’s mom Sophie Kumpen. “Verstappen-Piquet, all the other kids go karting can pack their bag. Congrats to you two,” chimed in former F1 driver Giedo van der Garde. “Here comes the next 10x World Champion,” added F1 legend David Coulthard.
The announcement comes during a monumental year for the Dutch driver, who clinched his third consecutive Formula 1 title in dominating fashion. Off the track, Verstappen and Piquet’s love story has captured fans’ hearts, with the two often sharing glimpses of their life together, from jet-setting to cheering each other on during major milestones.
Piquet, a model and social media influencer, is also mom to daughter Penelope, who she shares with former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat.
