Harry Potter Star Rupert Grint Welcomes Baby Girl

There’s another wizard in the family!

Rupert Grint, known for his role as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies, has surprised fans with the announcement of his second child’s arrival. “Secret Child Slightly Revealed’ Introducing Goldie G. Grint,” Grint captioned a photo of his baby girl wearing a sweet and simple “Goldie” onesie. “A 10/10 baby (so far),” he joked before thanking his partner Georgia Groome’s ob-gyn for “always delivering.”

Goldie, a name of British origin stemming from the Yiddish name Golde or Golda, unsurprisingly translates to “gold.” Popularized in the 1900s–1940s, actress Goldie Hawn helped bring the name back into the spotlight, and it has since grown in popularity, ranking as the 685th most popular name for girls in 2023.

Grint and the Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging actress already share daughter Wednesday, who was born in 2020. How Grint and Groome met remains a mystery, but the two are believed to have started dating in 2011. Notoriously private, many fans didn’t even realize they were a couple until a photo of them together surfaced on social media in 2018.

In a 2021 interview with Glamour, Grint said that after becoming a father, “I’ve changed as a person for sure. It kind of happened overnight, lifestyle-wise. I stopped smoking straight away.” And though he mentioned the sacrifices he made in his personal life as a result of “Harry Potter” fame, he said he would still support Wednesday if she decided to pursue a film career. “I would want her to do what she wants, but I think I’d be a real stage mum,” he said at the time.
